IT'S BEEN 38 YEARS LORD! (Part 2)
Hello TaiKeh Fams!!
A very big welcome to part 2 of our current series titled,
"IT'S BEEN 38 YEARS LORD!"
Our Bible text is taken from John 5:5 - 9
"And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
John 5:5-9 KJV

Jesus gave three commands to this man;
- Rise
- Take up Your Bed
- Walk
In the first series, we talked about the first command, RISE
In today's series , we'll be discussing, "... TAKE UP YOUR BED..."
You see, we wonder why Jesus told the man to take up his bed, after receiving his miracle, because no one would like to carry along the very thing that held him down for a long time
Anyone would gladly want to leave the bed behind and walk away singing and rejoicing!
The "bed" here signifies bad experiences, heartaches, disappointments, traumatic experiences, sad moments, etc that you've gone through in life.
From this passage, we understand that Jesus doesn't want you to leave your bed (experiences) behind!
He wants you to carry along your bed (experiences), no matter how torn, dirty, and rough it is.
He doesn't want you to leave it behind, No! He wants you to take it along as you walk!
You can't afford to leave your bed behind, why?
Your pain is your gain, it wasn't a mistake that you went through such trying times, there's a purpose!
Your pain, traumatic / bad experiences had a purpose - to glorify God.
Besides, how would people know you were made whole when you don't have your bed with you?
How would they know what you were saved from, if you're not carrying your bed?
You must carry your bed along! Don't be shy of your scars! It's a blessing.
Another important thing to note is that, you have to carry along with you, what carried you.
Let’s break that down,
What we are trying to say is, don't forget who sustained you. You are where you are and what you are now because of God's grace.
Don't forget how He helped you and those He used to help you.
Don't use God like a chewing gum, after getting what you want from Him, you discard Him, or else you'll find yourself back at square one.
Don't forget your source!
So what are you waiting for?
Take up your bed!
You may be saying, "Oh it's not that easy to just take up my bed TaiKeh"
Listen, you don't have to spend time trying to figure out how to do it, speak to the HOLY SPIRIT right now, tell Him you're willing to take up your bed, and He'll help you!
Watch out for part 3!!
In God's Grip,
TaiKeh Idahor
