The Sixth Month (Part 2)

Hello TK Fams!!!

This is the continuation of June Series,
In the first part, we talked about how important it is to be where God wants you to be, by being in the right place at the right time.

TEXT - Luke 1: 26-27 : And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth
To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David : and the virgin's name was Mary.

Today we'll be discussing on another way to receive God's favour, blessings and good news this month and that is -

Be with the person(s) who God wants you to be with : It is important to surround yourself with people that are godly and add value to your life.
There's a saying that says "Show me your friend and I will tell you who you are "
That is, a man's character can be defined by the kind of friends he keeps. (Proverbs 13:20, 1Corinthians 15:33)

In our text, Angel Gabriel was given clear instructions to locate a virgin who was engaged to Joseph, not Josiah, Justin, James but Joseph!

Let's make this practical, Let's imagine two men, James and Joseph were seeking Mary's hand in marriage.

In fact James is more wealthy and can offer better opportunities to Mary than Joseph.

On the other hand, Joseph is from a humble background, he doesn't have it all but he really loves Mary and would do anything to make her happy.

Mary is faced with two men fighting for her hand in marriage, she goes ahead to pray about it and God tells her to choose Joseph - who doesn't have enough money to take care of both of them, in fact, he's just a carpenter but he's head over heels in love with her.

Mary is dumbfounded like "How can God tell me to marry a carpenter?! "

If Mary had decided to disobey God and went ahead to marry James who she thought had a better future, Of course, the story would have ended up a whole lot different.

This is because even if the Angel had met Mary, but she was engaged to James, he probably would have turned back because she was not with the person God expected her to be with but thank God she had agreed to marry Joseph.

This shows the importance of you surrounding yourself with people that are godly, and can challenge you to be more like Christ, in other words, being with the people God wants you to be with.

The righteous choose their friends carefully, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

Reflection: Are you with the person(s) God wants you to be with?
