JESUS! WAKE UP!!! SERIES (Part 9)

Bible Text :  

"... The evil spirits begged Jesus, “If you kick us out of these men, let us live in the pigs.” Jesus said, “Go ahead, but get out of here!” Crazed, the pigs stampeded over a cliff into the sea and drowned. Scared to death, the swineherds bolted. They told everyone back in town what had happened to the madmen and the pigs. Those who heard about it were angry about the drowned pigs. A mob formed and demanded that Jesus get out and not come back."

Today, Let's compare the lives of the swineherds to that of David, 

Jesus explained the reason why they ran away in John 10: 11-14

“I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd puts the sheep before himself, sacrifices himself if necessary. A hired man is not a real shepherd. The sheep mean nothing to him. He sees a wolf come and runs for it, leaving the sheep to be ravaged and scattered by the wolf. He’s only in it for the money. The sheep don’t matter to him."John 10:11‭-‬13 MSG

 In 1 Samuel 17: 34-35, David was not afraid to defend his flocks, he went up against the lion and the bear but the herdsmen could not defend their swines! 

The swineherds were not as passionate as David about their swines, they took it as a job, 

However, David was keen on taking care of what God had placed in his hands at the moment, and you'll notice how he loved his flocks so much that He was willing to lose his life while challenging the lion and bear that came up against his flocks! 

Furthermore, It was bad enough that the swineherds had taken their flocks to the wrong place but they added salt to injury when they went seeking help from the wrong people! 

Obviously, They could not contend with the demons who had taken over their swines, but the One who could solve their problem was standing right in front of them but they didn't go to to Him for help. 

It's not as if Jesus was nowhere to be found, He was so close to them yet they didn't go over to meet Him, In fact, they ran away from Him. 

How many times have you run away from Jesus thinking He did not have the solution to your problem? 

Jesus would surely have helped them if only they went to Him and not away from Him. 

Jesus wants to help you, but you have to come to Him, Stop running away from Him. 

Did you notice that Jesus did not stop them from running away? He didn't run after them, or call out to them to stop running away so He could introduce Himself. 

You must know that Jesus is a perfect gentleman, He won't impose Himself on you to accept Him, Rather, He will wait for you to willingly come back to Him. 

Jesus was there all along when the demons entered the swines, when the swines became violent and drowned in the sea ;

Jesus was there all along, When you failed that examination, 

Jesus was there all along, When you lost your job, 

Jesus was there all along, When your fiance/fiancee walked out on you, 

Jesus was there all along, When your father/mother abandoned you, 

Jesus was there all along, When you had that accident, 

Jesus was there all along, When you lost all your possessions, 

Jesus was there all along, When you were lying on the hospital bed, 

Jesus was there all along, Waiting on you to run to Him and lay your burdens at His feet. 

Gladly, He's still waiting on you to run to Him. 

Stop running to the phone, run to the throne. 

Stop running to your certificate, run to the certificator, 

Stop running to the world, run to the word,

Stop running to the creation, run to the creator. 

To sum it up, Jesus is saying to you right now - “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.
