THE WIDOW'S DIARY (Part 15)

Hello and welcome back to Bible study with the widow series 3!

Today we shall dig deeper into the instructions that was given to me by the Prophet Elisha.

Firstly, Prophet Elisha asked me what I had in my hand. Thankfully, I had a jar of oil left and he instructed me to do the following:

"... Then come home and lock the door behind you, you and your sons. Pour oil into each container; when each is full, set it aside.” 2 Kings 4:4 MSG   https://bible.com/bible/97/2ki.4.4.MSG

Prophet Elisha told me that after the jars have been collected, my sons and I should go into our house to shut, bolt, lock, put an iron or metal behind the door to prevent entry.

Why go through the hassle of going up and down , looking up for jars?

Also, we did not quite understand why we had to be alone to pour the oil, personally I just thought that it was to prevent our neighbors from seeing what we were doing with their barrels. It was in the process of pouring oil into the first container and we realized that there was still oil left in the jar, We poured it into the second jar, to the third and fourth, till there was no more jar left to pour the oil into.

At that moment, the purpose of the instruction became very clear and that is what I would like to share with you.

LESSONS:

God wants to spend some alone time with you, just you. He wants us to shut the doors of distractions, public opinions, worries, doubt, and so on and so forth and God wants you to focus on Him.

If you noticed, there were times in the bible when Jesus wanted to heal certain people who were considered to be dead by people, He would ask for some privacy, by telling the owner of the house to shut the door against the people because sometimes the solution to your problem lies in shutting the door of your life against fear, worries, anxiety, and so on.

Most of the times, we allow people who can not really give us the real solution to our problems, to take the place of God in our lives, thereby leaving no room for God.

This is not to say that, God can not use people to help us. No, but we need to be conscious of the fact that they must NOT take place of God in our lives.

God wants your attention.

That's why most of the times, things would just happen, it may seem like our plans didn't work out in the end but if you check back again, you'll realize that all God needed was for you and Him to talk for even a minute, heart to heart, like a  son /daughter to his/her Father

God kind of slows down the time for you, He could make the traffic light go slower than usual just to take a good look at your face that morning,

I mean God would want to see what He created.

 Have a lovely day!
