The Equalizer

 Hello, TaiKeh fams!

Welcome back to TaiKeh World Blog!

Our Bible readings for today are from the books of Exodus 16:17-18, and Matthew 20: 1-12

The People of Israel went to work and started gathering, some more, some less, but when they measured out what they had gathered, those who gathered more had no extra and those who gathered less weren’t short—each person had gathered as much as was needed.  https://my.bible.com/bible/97/EXO.16.17-18

1“This will help you understand the way heaven’s kingdom operates:
“There once was a wealthy landowner who went out at daybreak to hire all the laborers he could find to work in his vineyard.

2After agreeing to pay them the standard day’s wage, he put them to work. 3Then at nine o’clock, as he was passing through the town square, he found others standing around without work.

4He told them, ‘Come and work for me in my vineyard and I’ll pay you a fair wage.’

5So off they went to join the others. He did the same thing at noon and again at three o’clock, making the same arrangement as he did with the others.

6“Hoping to finish his harvest that day, he went to the town square again at five o’clock and found more who were idle. So he said to them, ‘Why have you been here all day without work?’

7“ ‘Because no one hired us,’ they answered. “So he said to them, ‘Then go and join my crew and work in my vineyard.’

8“When evening came, the owner of the vineyard went to his foreman and said, ‘Call in all the laborers, line them up, and pay them the same wages, starting with the most recent ones I hired and finishing with the ones who worked all day.’

9“When those hired late in the day came to be paid, they were given a full day’s wage.
10And when those who had been hired first came to be paid, they were convinced that they would receive more. But everyone was paid the standard wage.   Matthew 20:1-10

The Israelites had been praying, crying for food to eat. It even got to a point where they started complaining saying “It would have been better if the Lord had just killed us in the land of Egypt. At least there we had plenty to eat. We had all the food we needed. But now you have brought us out here into this desert to make us all die from hunger.”

God answered their prayer by sending Manna in the morning, (v16:13) "...and in the morning dew lay on the ground all around it.  14-After the dew was gone, something like thin flakes of frost was on the ground."

In the morning, the Israelites were greeted with Manna all over the land and it was recorded that "...Some people gathered a large amount, some people gathered a little"

Also, the workers started at different times of the day, some in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

Perhaps, you are in the category of people who started some certain things in your life late like marriage, academics, career, childbearing, and many more. Your peers, mates, colleagues have gone ahead and are doing so well and you are just starting to find your footing in life.

Perhaps, you think there will be little or no time for you to "gather" as much manna as your neighbor had gathered because he or she started very early in the morning.

Perhaps, you are just gaining admission while your classmates have graduated,

Perhaps, you are still searching for a life partner while most of your friends are getting married in a few months time,

Perhaps, you are just about to marry while your friends are already bearing their children,

Perhaps, you are married but have a delay in childbearing while, your friends are organizing baby showers or are grandparents,

Perhaps, you are still struggling to find a job while your mates are  gainfully employed or employers of labor,

Whatever your case may be, we have good news for you today. Even if it seems like your friends, colleagues, classmates, etc who started early are having plenty of manna (great results), your results shall be on the same scale, it would be as though you started at the same time.

That's God's word for you today.

The Israelites who started early and gathered much and those who started late and got so little, In the end God gave them the same results "...but when they measured out what they had gathered, those who gathered more had no extra and those who gathered less weren’t short ."

In the end, God equalized their results, "...“When those hired late in the day came to be paid, they were given a full day’s wage. 10-And when those who had been hired first came to be paid, they were convinced that they would receive more. But everyone was paid the standard wage."
