IT'S BEEN 38 YEARS LORD! (Part 5)

Let's do a quick recap of all we've learnt in the previous series;

Our Bible text is from, John 5:12-17

"And so the Jewish leaders said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.” 

 But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ” 

 So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?” 

The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there. 

Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

Jesus had just healed a man who had been lame for thirty eight years, on his way home, the Jews saw him and asked why he was carrying his bed on Sabbath day, he responded that the One who healed him told him to, then they asked him, "Who healed you?" 🤔🙄😒

Unfortunately, he could not answer them, he was like, 😐erm… erm..erm

We were expecting a shout of praise from him like, heeyyy it's Jesus! The Son of God! (You know, kinda with a swag😎🤣) But he had no idea. 

The man didn't even get Jesus' name before he left! Funny enough, many of us do the same thing, after getting what we need from God, that's the end. 

We put a full stop to our fellowship and conversation with Him. 

It's very important to know who Jesus is 

You must go beyond just coming to God only when you have request, that is to say, you must seek the giver of the miracle, not just the miracle! 

You may ask, how do I get to know God more? 

By studying the word of God, praying, attending a Bible-believing church, surrounding yourself with godly people, and many more. 

Furthermore, we still see the magnitude of God's love for this man, despite the fact that he didn't seek to know who had healed him or longed to build an intimate relationship with Jesus , Jesus saw him later on and advised him on how to live, so he wouldn't return to square one. 

" Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning or something worse may happen to you.”

In essence, God hates sin so it's paramount that we live holy

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let’s Pray, 

Father we come before you this day, asking that you give us grace to rise, take up our beds and walk. 

Also, Father please help us not to be intimidated by those who come questioning our miracles, give us the boldness to refer them back to You, 

Lastly, let us seek to know you more intimately because the more we know you Father is the more we want to know you in Jesus' glorious name we pray.
