IT'S BEEN 38 YEARS LORD! (Part 1)

Hello TaiKeh Fams! 

Welcome to another series titled,

"IT'S BEEN THIRTY EIGHT YEARS LORD!"

The Bible text is taken from, John 5:5-9,

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.

When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?

The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.

Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.

And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

Let’s give you a little background story to this guy, 

There was this pool called Bethesda, where a lot of people who were sick stood by, all waiting for an angel to stir the water, whoever stepped in first, was healed of any kind of disease they had!

Awesome right? Imagine this in today's world, a lot of people would sleep overnight at the pool waiting for the angel,

Also, many would cut corners to be first in line(that's if there is a queue) 

Bribery and corruption of the workers at the pool among many others would be prevalent. 

Just imagine! 

And a man who had a sickness for thirty-eight years was there, when Jesus saw him, He knew the man had been there for a long time. 

How many of us like this man have been wondering when exactly we are going to receive our miracles, dream jobs, get married, have a family, be healed, etc?

We all have expectations from God, no matter how far we go in life, we still anticipate something from God!

Guess what Jesus asked him,

 "Will you be made for whole?" 

Of course!!!! He wants to be made whole! 

Let’s see his reply to Jesus,

"Sir, i don't have anyone to put me into the water, when it is stirred, whenever i try, another person always overtakes me 😢😔 he explained

So sad right? He probably didn't know who was asking him that question, if not he would have said a straight up YES I WANT TO BE MADE WHOLE! 

Well guess what Jesus said, 

• Rise

• Take your bed

• Walk

"…And immediately he was made whole! "

Halllllleeellllujaaahhh!

This man didn't need to go through the normal procedures any longer, he was made whole instantly!

Why? How?

The Living Water spoke life into him, so he didn't need the water at the pool!

Let’s discuss more about Jesus' command to the man

First, He said; RISE. To rise is to get up.

In every circumstance you find yourself, you need to rise, you can't afford to remain at the ground level.

Jesus does not want you down-casted, No! He wants you to rise above every difficult situation you find yourself in, right now!

You must rise! Yes YOU!
