The Sixth Month (Part 4)
The story of Mary and Joseph in Luke 1:26-38 has been our case study for June Series. Today, we shall be going further into the encounter that the Angel had with Mary, after he pronounced the good news to her.
"What’s more, your relative Elizabeth has become pregnant in her old age! People used to say she was barren, but she has conceived a son and is now in her sixth month. For the word of God will never fail.”
Luke 1:36-37 NLT

Did you notice that the angel knew what people called Elizabeth?
God knows your present circumstance and what people say about you, but He wants you to focus on what He calls you.
He calls you a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, wonderfully made, talented, brave, unique etc (1Peter 2:9, Psalm 139:14, Isaiah 61:6)
Apparently, Elizabeth was called barren by people because she couldn't give birth to a child of her own but miraculously she was pregnant and already in her sixth month!
Obviously, God was at work in Elizabeth's life. He broke all protocols for her sake, regardless of her age, the frailty of her womb, medical conditions etc and gave her a child of her own.
Most of the time, People are given names based on their situations and circumstances .
For example, most of the people that came to Jesus for healing were not identified by their real names, but rather by the sicknesses and diseases that they had!
For instance, do you know the real name of the man at the beautiful gate, the woman with the issue of blood, the man by the pool of Bethsaida, the mad man of Gadarenes, etc.?
Most likely, the answer is NO, Because these people were referred to, by the circumstances they found themselves in and were regarded as nobody; however, God chose to make them somebody.
The people called Elizabeth barren, but God called her fruitful;
People may say you are a failure, But God says you are a success;
People may say that you would never amount to anything useful in life, but God says that He would use you for His glory Isaiah 40:5 ;
People may reject you, but God says the stone that was rejected will become the the chief corner stone - Psalm 118:22 ;
People may abandon you, but God would never leave you - Isaiah 49:15;
People may say you will never gain admission into college but God says not only would you gain admission, you'll shall also graduate with distinction - 2 Timothy 4:7;
People say you have only one month to live, but God says you shall live long to see your children's children- Psalm 118:17; 128:6,
People say you won't be able to get a job but God says He shall make you an employer of labour - Deuteronomy 28:13;
People may say it's too late for you to find a life partner, but God says He's never too late - always on time - 2 Peter 3:9 ;
People may say you would never recover from your past trauma but God says your pain is a stepping stone to greatness - Isaiah 43:18-21;
People may say you would never build your house but God says you shall build your house and live in it. Psalm 127:1
Remember,
"For with God, nothing shall be impossible!" - Only believe.
